MAIMANA/ PUL-I-KHUMRI (PAN): Two separate bombing blasts in Dawlatabad and Sherin Taghab districts of the northwestern Faryab province killed three people, including two children on Wednesday, officials said.
Sayed Abdul Salam Nuzhat, Dawlatabad district governor, told Pajhwok Afghan News the first blast took place in Shordarya in the suburbs of the district, which left two children dead.
Sayed Loqman Gahrik, district governor of SherinTagab, said a civilian was died when he hit a planted landmine while carrying food to a police check post.
He blamed insurgents for planting landmines in the area which resulted in the killings of civilians.
Separately, security forces had claimed arresting a group of eight people allegedly involved in kidnappings and other illegal activities.
Col. Aminullah Amarkhail, Baghlan police chief, told reporters the detained persons were involved in the abduction of a girl.
Some of the arrested persons were involved in burglary and drugs trafficking, he added.
