LASHKARGAH (PAN): Four police officials and two militants were killed during a clash in Musa Qala district of southern Helmand province, an official said Friday.
A group of armed militants stormed a police check-post in Yatimsi area last night and the ensuing gunbattle left four policemen and two assailants dead, police spokesman Ahmad Fawad Askari told Pajhwok Afghan News. A fifth policeman was injured in the attack.
Taliban spokesman Qari Yousuf said a group of two fighters attacked the post, killing seven police, including the check post commander, Mansoor.
He said the pair also seized a police van and other equipment from the check post.
The attack was latest in a series of militant attacks targeting police posts in the volatile Helmand.
