KABUL’s northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) has arrived in eastern Nangarhar province to play friendly matches with Afghan under-19 squad, an official said Friday.

ACB spokesman Farid Hotak told Pajhwok Afghan News the visiting Malik Sports Club from KP arrived via Torkham border crossing the other day.

The two sides will play five one-day matches at the Ghazi Amanullah Khan International Cricket Stadium in Jalalabad.

Hotak said the matches would help Afghanistan under-19 crew better prepare for the ACC Asia Cup in the UAE, which will begin on December 28.

He said the matches would begin on Saturday and last a week, saying it was for the second time a foreign cricket team was touring Afghanistan.

A team from Tajikistan is expected to tour Afghanistan soon for a match with Afghanistan-A cricket team at the same venue, Hotak said.
