2 police shot dead in Kandahar City

KANDAHAR CITY (PAN’s birthplace, an official said.

The incident took place in the jurisdiction of the 9th police district around 10am, police spokesman Zia Durrani told Pajhwok Afghan News.

He said the assailants had escaped, but a manhunt was underway to capture them.

There has been no word on the incident from the Taliban.

Durrani said the attack came at a time when search operations had been launched in various districts of the province.

So far dozens of landmines, weapons and ammunitions have been seized as a result of the operations, he said.
