KABUL): The Ministry of Interior affairs (MoI) on Monday said police had seized an explosive-laden car in Despachar area after intense gun fight with those traveling in the car, which left a policeman dead.

The statement said a car without legal documents was transferring explosives to the Kabul city last night.

Those travelling in the car sped away their car in a move to evade the police checkpoint, which sparked exchange of gun fire, leaving a policeman dead but the car was later impounded with 300 kilograms of explosives.

The statement had no details whether the driver of the car had been arrested.

The impounding of the car with heavy explosive thwarted a possible disruptive attack in the Kabul city, it added.

Meanwhile, the MoI said a kidnapped person, Abdul Nasir, was rescued from abductors during a police operation last night in which one of the kidnapper had been detained.

Abdul Nasir was kidnapped by unidentified people last week and his abductors demanded a huge amount of money from his family, the statement added.
