TALOQAN (PAN in the Warsaj district of northern Takhar province, an official said on Sunday.

Gul Agha Dahanzari, a spokesman for the education department, told Pajhwok Afghan News the a Swedish Committee for Afghanistan (SCA)-funded girls’ high school was among three newly-constructed schools in the district.

The Tarshat High School has capacity for 320 students and another school in Kiman area has space for 650 pupils, according to the official, who said the project had accounted for 20 million afs.

Najla, a student of the School, said they had previously been studying under the open sky or tents. Rain, cold weather and storms would often disrupt their classes, prompting students to drop out of school.

But the construction of the new building had brought hope and happiness to students, whose problems had been resolved, she added.

Education officials say 33 schools in Warsaj district are under construction and funds for six others will be set aside in next year’s development budget.
