KUNDUZ (PAN): An Afghan National Army (ANA) commander was wounded in northern Kunduz province and three armed militants were killed and two ANA soldiers wounded in western Faryab.

Staff Captain Ghulam Hazrat Karimi, a spokesman for the ANA 2nd Infantry Brigade, said the commander was injured in a clearing operation in Dasht-i-Archi district.

The ANA commander sustained slight injuries to his leg, he said, adding several insurgents had suffered casualties during the ongoing offensive.

Elsewhere, three militants were killed and two ANA soldiers injured during a clash on Almar-Qaisar highway in Faryab province.

Captain Mohammad Reza Reza, a spokesperson for the 1st ANA Brigade in Faryab, said the clash took place when soldiers were patrolling  the Qaisar road.

A Taliban spokesman, Qari Yousuf Ahmadi, claimed two ANA soldiers were killed in a roadside bombing. He denied the fighters’ casualties.
