KABUL): The spiritual leader of the Ismaili community Prince Karim Aga Khan called on President Hamid Karzai at the Presidential Palace in Kabul on Saturday.
A statement issued from the Presidential Palace said President Karzai and the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) director discussed the organisation’s poverty alleviation and other social welfare and economic activities in the country.
The president appreciated AKDN’s projects like hospitals, schools and reconstruction of heritage sites as significant.
Karzai said the war-hit Afghans were in dire need of such social welfare projects.
Karim Agha Khan thanked the Afghan government for opportunities it extended to the network to carry out its activities and assured continued efforts at bringing improvement in the lives of Afghan people.
Prince Karim Agha Khan has been invited by the President to participate in this year’s Nawroz festival beginning March 21 in Kabul.
