KUNDUZ CITY (PANinfo-icon): A man and a woman were killed and a third person injured within hours of a dispute over a dog-fighting sportinfo-icon in northeastern Kunduz province, residents said on Sunday.

The incident took place late on Saturday in Lodin area of Kunduz City, the provincial capital, after a man shot dead the dog of his rival, when his dog lost the blood battle.

After this, the dead dog’s owner entered the house of his rival and gunned down his wife, Mohammad Naeem, a resident of the area, told Pajhwok Afghan News.

Then the slain woman’s husband reached the house of his wife killer with a gun and shot him dead and injured one of his family members in revenge, he said.

Kunduz police spokesman Syed Sarwar Hussaini confirmed the incident, saying the injured person had been hospitalised and that police had launched a manhunt for the killer, who remains at large.

The traditional dog-fighting remains to be a popular source of entertainment in many provinces, with large amounts of money exchanging hands.
