Dec 22, 2013 - 14:54

JALALABAD (PANinfo-icon): Intelligence agents have detained three would-be suicide bombers with a car full of explosives in the eastern province of Laghman, an official said on Sunday.

National Directorate of Security (NDSinfo-icon) operatives arrested the suspected bombers in the Mashakhel area of Mehtarlam, the provincial capital, on Saturday evening.

Sarhadi Zwak, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News the detainees planned a terrorist attack in Mehtarlam. He said 130 kilograms of explosives had been recovered from the car.

A team of Afghan National Army (ANA) engineers defused the explosives at the site, he said, adding the detainees were being investigated by NDS personnel.
