JALALABAD (PAN): Intelligence agents have detained three would-be suicide bombers with a car full of explosives in the eastern province of Laghman, an official said on Sunday.

National Directorate of Security (NDS) operatives arrested the suspected bombers in the Mashakhel area of Mehtarlam, the provincial capital, on Saturday evening.

Sarhadi Zwak, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News the detainees planned a terrorist attack in Mehtarlam. He said 130 kilograms of explosives had been recovered from the car.

A team of Afghan National Army (ANA) engineers defused the explosives at the site, he said, adding the detainees were being investigated by NDS personnel.
