Tajikistan cricket team due this week

Tajikistan cricket team due this week

Dec 23, 2013 - 18:25

KABULinfo-icon (PANinfo-icon): The Tajikistan cricket team would tour Afghanistaninfo-icon this week to play two one-day and one twenty-20 matches against the Afghanistan-A team, an official said on Monday.

Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) spokesman Farid Hotak told Pajhwok Afghan News that the neighbours had reached an agreement on strengthening cricket links some time back.

Under the agreement, the ACB would provide technical support to the Tajikistan Cricket Federation, Hotak said, adding the matches between the sides were part of that deal.

The matches would begin on Dec. 27 at the Ghazi Amanullah Khan International Cricket Stadium in the eastern city of Jalalabad, he said.

ACB Chief Executive Dr Noor Mohammad Murad called the tour by the Tajikistan team a major development. He said the game had made unprecedented strides in Afghanistan in terms of playgrounds and academies.
