PUL-I-ALAM (PAN-Gardez highway.

A delegation of the ministry, which visited the province to conduct an entry test, allegedly threw answer sheets in water channels on their way back to Kabul.

About 3,632 new school graduates, including 280 girls, appeared in the entry test last Thursday. A 28-member delegation of the ministry had been in the province to oversee the process, the governor said.

Niaz Mohammad Amiri told Pajhwok Afghan News local officials and members of the Wolesi Jirga — the lower house of parliament — and the provincial council were also present on the occasion.

Irked by the delegation’s negligence, Logar residents — mostly students — took to the streets in Pul-i-Alam, Mohammad Agha district and Safid Sang area. The demonstrators raised slogans against the ministry.

In the provincial capital, protestors marched from the provincial council office to the governor’s office. They accused the ministry of doing a grave injustice to students.

In a unanimously approved declaration, they demanded prosecution of three delegation heads. Governor Amiri and MP Akbar Stanikzai met the protestors and assured them that the issue would be handled fairly.
