GARDEZ (PAN): Security forces captured truck laden with ammonium nitrate, a fertiliser used for making bombs, on the outskirts of the capital of southeastern Paktia province, officials said on Monday.
Col. Zalmai Oryakhel, the provincial police chief, told Pajhwok Afghan News they had seized 5,200 kilograms of ammonium nitrate and 2,000 meters of bomb fuse from the truck.
He said the truck — coming from the Angor Adda area of Pakistan — was intercepted on the outskirts of Gardez.
Three months ago, an explosives-laden truck was seized on the Gardez-Khost road. The truck was carrying 50 tonnes of explosives, according to officials.
