MAHMOOD RAQI (PAN projects worth millions of US dollars implemented this year.

Mehrabuddin Safi told reporters the projects, which had been completed, included a 250km road and two hospitals — maternity and gynecology — and a drug addict rehabilitation centre in Mahmood Raqi.

Another hospital has been constructed in Nijrab district, he said, adding construction work on buildings for 40 schools was underway in different parts of the province.

Construction process on some schools had already been completed and ongoing on others, the governor said, but did not provide figures for the costs and locations of the projects.

Safi said the security situation in Kapisa had improved after the security responsibility was transferred to Afghan forces, who had the ability to maintain security for the April elections.

The last group of 400 French troops left Kapisa in October 2012.
