KABUL, the Presidential Palace said on Thursday.
In a statement, the palace said President Karzai had invited Abbas to visit Afghanistan during a telephonic contact on Wednesday night.
It is for a second time that Karzai has invited the Palestinian leader. He told Abbas to visit Afghanistan at a time convenient to him, saying the Afghans would warmly welcome him.
The statement quoted Karzai as sharing his sympathies with the people of Palestine in their struggle to defend their rights.
It said Abbas accepted Karzai’s invitation and agreed to visit Afghanistan in near future. Abbas also hoped for a stable and peaceful Afghanistan, the statement concluded.
