PUL-I-KHUMRI (Pajhwok):  Police in northern Baghlan province on Friday claimed seizing 2,300 kilograms of explosives from a bus on the outskirts of Pul-i-Khumri, the provincial capital.

The explosives-laden vehicle, intercepted in Doshi area on the basis of a tip-off, was to enter the city, the Baghlan police chief told reporters. He said thousands of metres of wire used in bomb making were also recovered.

Brig. Gen. Amin Allah Amarkhel said two men, including the bus owner, had been detained. The explosives had allegedly been smuggled from Pakistan and were to be used for attacks in northern provinces, including Baghlan, Kunduz, Takhar and Badakhshan.
