TALOQAN (PAN and as many men, all from the same family, have been rescued from their abductors by security forces in northeastern Takhar province, where a woman was shot dead, officials said on Wednesday.
A man opened fire at a car in Taloqan, the provincial capital, killing a woman and injuring a child and a man, acting police chief Col. Abdul Khalil Azizi told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Police chased the attacker and arrested him along with two Kalashnikovs, another gun and a car without license plate, he said.
Elsewhere in the Ashkmash district, a joint police and army force raided a house and set free three women and three men, who had been kidnapped from a wedding party as a result of personal enmity, the governor’s spokesman said.
Sunatullah Taimor said the kidnapping took place two days ago and the kidnappers had fled before the raid. He said efforts were being made to arrest the kidnappers.
Meanwhile, police claimed arresting two men with 25 kilograms of drugs and a third man with 17 kilograms of heroin concealed in a gas cylinder in Taloqan.
The acting police chief said another person was detained with eight kg of charas in a square in the city.
