MAZAR-I-SHARIF (Pajhwok): Police have arrested two persons in a triple murder case and a father for allegedly killing his daughter in northern Balkh province, an official said on Friday.

The pair had fled to Balkh after reportedly killing three road construction workers in neighbouring Sari-i-Pul province’s Sancharak district last month, Balkh police spokesman Lal Mohammad Ahmadzai told a press conference in Mazar-i-Sharif, the provincial capital.

He said the accused were currently being interrogated, but it remained unclear if they had any links with insurgents.

He also said a father had been arrested for allegedly killing his daughter in Khulam district. He said investigation was underway to ascertain the motive behind the murder.

Ahmadzai said a car-lifter had been arrested and the stolen car returned to its owner in Balkh district.
