KHOST CITY (Pajhwok): Two police officers were killed in a bomb blast in the capital of southern Khost province on Sunday, an official said.
The incident took place in the Hindwan area on the outskirts of Khost City in the afternoon, police chief Col Faizullah told Pajhwok Afghan News.
But eyewitnesses said that a number of gunmen travelling in a car opened fire on the policemen on duty before escaping.
Shopkeeper Mohammad Qasim said the policemen were checking vehicles and pedestrians when unidentified gunmen in a car opened fire on them
Khost Civil Hospital Director Dr Majeed Mangal, meanwhile, confirmed receiving two dead bodies and three wounded policemen from the scene.
