KANDAHAR CITY (Pajhwok): Toryalai Weesa, the governor of southern Kandahar province, on Friday expressed shock over the demise of prominent tribal elder Haji Naik Nazar.

Haji Naik Nazar, popularly known as Haji Kaka, died at 70 as a result of a cardiac arrest, a statement from the governor’s office said.

Kaka played a key role in bringing peace and normalcy to the area, the statement quoted the governor as saying. “May Allah rest the departed soul in eternal peace and grant courage to his family to bear the loss with fortitude.”

The services rendered by Haji Kaka to the community would be remembered for years, he remarked. Kaka was a resident of Tabin village in Arghandab district.
