SHIBERGHAN/FARAH CITY (Pajhwok): Six people, most of them children, lost their lives to severe cold and a blast in Jawzjan and Farah provinces, officials said on Tuesday.

Jawzjan deputy governor Abdur Rahman Mehmoodi told Pajhwok Afghan News four people, including three children, had died of harsh weather conditions.

He said heavy rains and snowfall had damaged hundreds of houses and blocked most roads in Shiberghan and other parts of the province.

A survey has been carried out to assess damages ahead of aid distribution to the affected families, the official said.

Also in Farah, a child was killed and three of his family members wounded by a blast inside their home in Khwaja Issa village of Pusht Koh district late on Monday.
