KABUL (Pajhwok): President Hamid Karzai on his weekly radio speech has welcomed the beginning of candidates’ campaign, saying differences in people’s opinions should not create personal oppositions, a statement said.

According to a statement from the presidential palace, Karzai called the presidential candidates’ campaigns as important that it would help strengthening democracy among Afghans.

Talking to candidates, Karzai said “All Afghans feel sure the candidates would campaign the way that leads to the improvement of national unity and encouragement of people for taking part in the elections,”

Afghans are more hopeful the candidates would clearly present their plans, programs and images for the development of Afghanistan so people clearly vote their interested candidate in the next elections, the statement quoted Karzai as saying.

Referring to the previous presidential elections, Karzai said all Afghans around the country had participated in the previous elections, they would participate in the next elections too, to experience the democracy and freedom.

Democracy means that people can have different views and may they vote different candidates, but it should not create personal differences among people, and all Afghans should behave like brothers.
