ISLAMABAD (Pajhwok): A drawdown of foreign forces from Afghanistan later this year might create a security vacuum that would be hard to fill, a Pakistani minister said on Thursday.

As more than 130,000 foreign troops could not control the situation, Afghan forces would have to face serious challenges, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan argued.

During a meeting with Japan’s Ambassador to Pakistan Hiroshi Inomata in Islamabad, Nisar believed the post-2014 situation in Afghanistan would be uncertain.

While placing an emphasis on greater coordination among the stakeholders, Nisar reaffirmed Pakistan’s support for the Afghan-led peace process without having any favorites.

Determined not to allow the use of Pakistan’s soil against anybody, the government of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif remained committed to combating terrorism, he added.
