LASHKARGAH (Pajhwok): The ongoing wet spell, closing key link roads in a number of districts, has left seven people dead in southern Helmand province, an official said on Friday.
Omar Zwak, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the fatalities occurred in different areas of Sangin district late on Thursday.
Five nomadic Kuchis died in one incident while two people of a family were killed in a house collapse in the district. A third person was wounded in the cave-in.
Omar Omari, the district’s administrative head, confirmed the incidents and casualties. Snowy conditions and strong winds have killed up to 900 domestic animals of the Kuchi tribe.
