KABUL Tarakhel, the spy service said on Thursday.
A statement from the National Directorate of Security (NDS) said the detainees had confessing to carrying out a bomb blast that injured two seminary students ten days ago in the Pul-i-Charkhi area on the eastern outskirts of Kabul.
The detained individuals, who had links with the Taliban, used an improvised explosive device (IED) to target the lawmaker, who was to address a campaign rally for presidential candidate Abdul Qayyum Karzai at the seminary, the spy service said.
It identified the detainees as Obaidullah alias Zubair and Samiullah alias Suhail, both residents of central Logar province.
During preliminary investigations, the detainees said they had received the explosives from Qari Burhan, a Taliban commander in Zarghon Shahr area of Mohammad Agha district of Logar.
One of the detainees was arrested in Mohammad Agha district and the second in the limits of eight police district of Kabul, the statement concluded.
