TIRINKOT (Pajhwok): Police have unearthed and seized an arms and ammunition dump belonging to the insurgents in central Uruzgan province, an official claimed on Friday.

Uruzgan police chief, Brig. Gen. Matiullah told Pajhwok Afghan News the depot in Maharabad area of Tirinkot — the provincial capital — contained light and heavy weapons.

The seizure included dozens of rocket shells, a launcher, a heavy machine gun, landmines, thousands of bullets, tens of hand grenades, optical instruments and other tools, he said.

As Gen. Matiullah appreciated public cooperation, Maharabad police officer Shah Mohammad said the arms depot had been found after a lot of efforts.
