KABUL Cup match in the United Arab Emirates on Saturday, an official said.

Asked to bat, the national side was bowled out for 212 runs in the stipulated 50 overs, Afghanistan Cricket Board spokesman Farid Hotak told Pajhwok Afghan News.

Mohammad Mujtaba (47), Hashmatullah Shahidi (43) and Nasir Ahmadzai (41) were principal contributors to Afghanistan’s total, he said.

Mosaddek Hossain captured three vital wickets and displayed tremendous alacrity on the field, running Usman Ghani out for 27 at a crucial stage in the match.

Bangladeshi openers Shadman Islam and Joyraz Sheikh made the Afghan bowlers look like a very ordinary attack, with the former smashing a superb ton.

Islam stayed unbeaten at 126 and his partner Sheikh at 81 to see their side romping home in an utterly one-sided match.
