ISLAMABAD (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Thursday reiterated support for an Afghan-owned and Afghan-led reconciliation process.

A Foreign Office spokeswoman said Islamabad continued to sincerely support peace talks between the Talibaninfo-icon and the Afghan government.

Dialogue with former Taliban leaders was an internal matter for the Afghan government, Tasnim Aslam told a weekly press conference in Islamabad.

Asked about a recent meeting involving ex-Taliban ministers and diplomats in Dubai, the spokeswoman said Pakistaninfo-icon backed the Afghan government’s push for a negotiated political settlement

Stability in the region was in Pakistan’s interest, she argued.
