KUNDUZ CITY (Pajhwok): Police in northern Kunduz province on Saturday claimed arresting five robbers red-handed while unloading 18 tonnes of fuel from a hijacked tanker.
Police spokesman Sayed Sarwar Hussaini said the fuel tanker had been hijacked by unknown gunmen in the Chartoot area of Khanabad district.
The fuel tanker was taken from Khanabad to Kunduz City, where the arrests were made, he added. The tanker that was taking fuel from Mazar-i-Sharif to a pump station in Takhar was returned to its owner.
Obaidullah, the tanker owner and a pump station contractor, said the robbers had stolen his vehicle and left him and his driver blindfolded in a remote area.
They filed a case with Khanabad police who arrested the perpetrators and returned the fuel tanker, Obaidullah added.
