Anti-US remarks: PHC spokesman suspended

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): The High Peace Councilinfo-icon (HPC) said on Tuesday Maulviinfo-icon Shahzada Shahid had been suspended as its spokesman after his controversial remarks about Osama bin Laden and the United States.

A statement from the government body, tasked with brokering peace with the Talibaninfo-icon, said Shahid had been suspended as HPC spokesman .

Shahid reportedly called Osama bin Laden a martyr and blamed the ongoing conflict in Afghanistaninfo-icon on foreign meddling due to the US presence.

US Special Forces killed bin Laden, the Al Qaeda leader, during a raid in Abbottabad city, 150 kilometers north of Pakistaninfo-icon’s capital Islamabad, in May 2011.
