KUNDUZ CITY (Pajhwok): A safe drinking water scheme, benefiting more than one thousand families, has been completed in northern Kunduz province, an official said on Wednesday.
Eng. Najibullah Najib, regional water supply department director for the northeastern zone, told Pajhwok the project that cost 14 million afghanis had been a long-standing demand of local population.
The International Committee for Red Cross (ICRC)-funded project took one and a half year to complete, with each benefiting family contributing 1,700afs, he said.
Najib said another big water supply scheme involving a 14-kilometre pipeline would be inaugurated soon and that a third project of the kind was being constructed with financial support from the German Development Bank.
That scheme being implemented in the Imam Sahib district of Kunduz would be ready next year, he concluded.
