KABUL (Pajhwok): President Hamid Karzai on Sunday called for a joint and real regional fight against the twin scourge of terrorism and extremism as he condemned a slashing rampage that killed 29 people and wounded 143 at a train station in southern China.
Blamed on separatists, the attack late Saturday in Kunming, the capital of Yunnan province, left a total of 33 people dead after police shot dead four of the assailants and captured a fifth, all dressed in black.
In a statement issued from the Presidential Palace, President Karzai expressed his concern over the deaths of civilians in the attack in China and stressed sincere cooperation among regional countries in efforts at brining peace and stability and combating terrorism and extremism in the region.
The president expressed his deep sympathies with the families of those killed and wounded in the brutal attack in the neighbouring country.
