KABUL (Pajhwok): Seven militants have been killed and half a dozen others injured during separate incidents of violence in three provinces over the past 24 hours, officials said on Tuesday.
Three policemen were also injured during the incidents occurred in central Maidan Wardak, southern Kandahar and western Farah provinces, they said.
The Maidan Wardak governor’s spokesman, Attaullah Khogyani, told Pajhwok Afghan News two militants, including a commander, were killed and six others were injured during a clash with Afghan forces in Kafir Kala area of Daimardad district on Tuesday noon.
The clash came amid an ongoing clean-up operation by Afghan security forces in the area, he said.
In Kandahar, five militants were killed and some weapons were seized during an operation in Chinarto village of Shah Walikot district on Tuesday, the governor’s house said in a statement.
Elsewhere, three policemen were wounded in a roadside bombing in Bala Balok district of western Farah province.
In southeastern Paktika province, police detained a Taliban group leader identified as Mualvi Nasraullah, accused of his involvement in a series of attacks, police chief Brig. Gen. Zalmai Oryakhel said.
The Taliban have not yet commented on the incidents.
