KABUL Twenty20 tournament beginning in Bangladesh in four days, an official said on Wednesday.
Starting from Sunday, the tournament has been split into two stages – a qualifying leg, which involves eight countries (six associate nations, plus Zimbabwe and Bangladesh) divided into two groups; and the Super 10s, where the top two from the qualifying group join the eight top nations in the tournament proper.
Afghanistan’s Cricket Board spokesman Farid Hotak told Pajhwok Afghan News Afghanistan and Holland played a practice match as part of their preparations for the mega event.
Afghanistan won the toss and chose to bat in the 20 overs game. The Afghans piled up 150 runs for the loss of seven wickets in the stipulated overs, with Mohammad Nabi contributing 40 runs, Karim Sadiq and Shafiqullah 39 each.
Hotak said the game was halted by a rain storm and umpires set a revised 122 run target for Holland to achieve in 15 overs. But due to outstanding performance by Afghan bowlers, Holland batting line collapsed at 86 runs in the 13th over.
Aftab Alam clinched four wickets and Hamza Hotak three, while Mohammad Nabi and Karim Sadiq shared one wicket apiece.
