MAIMANA (Pajhwok): Three militants, including their commander were killed on Thursday in a gun battle with police in the Pashtun Kot district of northern Faryab province, an official said.
Sayyed Masood Yaqubi, provincial police spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News three Taliban had been killed in the district in a fierce clash with police at around 9:00am. Police personnel remained unhurt in the showdown he added.
Abdul Qadir Qadiri, the district chief, said the bodies of the slain militants, including the Taliban’s leading commander Mullah Niamatullah were still laying at the site.
He said two militants received injuries during the fight. However, Taliban did not comment on the incident.
