PUL-I-KHUMRI (Pajhwok): Two people were killed and three others injured on Sunday when their two-storey house collapsed following heavy rains in northern Baghlan province, an official said.
Natural Disaster Management Director Nasir Ahmad Kohzad told Pajhwok Afghan News the incident took place in the 2nd police district of Pul-i-Khumri, killing two women and wounding a man and two children.
Kohzad said he had visited the site and handed five quilts, a tent and food items to the affected family. More aid would be distributed after the losses were surveyed.
A resident of the area, Baba Mullah, said: “It was at 4am when the house collapsed and we found two women dead and three others injured.” The injured were evacuated to hospital but the condition of one child was unstable.
Last year, two people were killed and four others injured in a similar incident in the 5th police district of Pul-i-Khumri.
