District judge, police shot dead in Herat

HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): A judge and a policeman were shot dead by unidentified gunmen in western Herat province on Monday, an official said.

Appellate Court Judge Ghulam Rassoul told Pajhwok Afghan News the incident took place in the Khushk Rod area of Injil district in the morning.

He said Abdul Latif Sadiqi had been serving as judge for the Kurkh district for 20 years. He was known for his professional commitment.

With an investigation into the shooting underway, Herat Civil Hospital spokesman Rafiq Sherzai confirmed receiving the victims’ bodies.
