20 outlaws detained in Kabul

KABUL (Pajhwok): At least 20 people have been arrested by police on charges of different crimes including robberies in the capital Kabul, an official said on Thursday.

Kabul Crime Branch chief Col Gul Agha Hashimi told a news conference the individuals detained over the past two weeks were involved robberies and theft of vehicles’ number plates.

He said a five-member group of thieves was arrested along with three weapons and a car in the Shah Shahid area of the 8th police district.

Four men were held while trying to loot $20,000 from a showroom in Paghman district, he said, adding two others were detained for robbing a house in Qala Zaman Khan.

Nine suspects were detained in connection with stealing number plates.

Last month, 22 individuals were detained for a variety of offences, including murder and armed robberies in Kabul.
