KABUL (Pajhwok): The prices of food and other use items stayed stable during the outgoing week in Kabul, market sources said on Thursday.

A 50-kg sack of Pakistani flour sold for 1,350 afghanis and the same quantity of sugar for 1,550afs, registering no change in their rates, said Fazal Rahman, the Traders’ Union head.

A 24-kg bag of Pakistani rice cost 1,800afs, a 5-kg tin of Momin Ghee 380afs, one kg of black African tea 210afs and one kg of Vietnamese green tea 170afs, he said.

But retail prices continue to vary from wholesale. Ahmad Javed, a store owner in Taimani neighbourhood, sold a 50-kg bag of sugar for 1700afs, a 49-kg bag of flour for 1390afs and a 24-kg sack of rice for 2000afs.

He sold a 5-kg tin of Momin ghee for 460afs, a kilogram of green tea for 230afs and a kilogram of African black tea for 270afs.

There were no changes as well in the prices of petroleum products. Abdul Hadi, a filling station official in the Wazirabad area, said one litre of diesel cost 60afs and the same quantity of petrol 58afs.

Similarly, the rate of liquefied gas stayed stable at 48afs a kilogram, according to Mir Aqa, a dealer in the Thaimani area.

The rate of one gram of Arabian gold was 2,100afs and the same quantity of the Iranian variety 1,850afs, the same prices as last week’s.

In the money market, one US dollar was changed for 57.37afs and 1,000 Pakistani rupees for 554afs.  Last week’s exchange value of the greenback stood at 57.30 and 1,000 Pakistani rupees at 572afs.
