KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): Turkmenistan has promised support for the High Peace Councilinfo-icon (HPC)’s efforts to bring the Talibaninfo-icon to the negotiating table, the peace body said on Thursday.

A statement from the council said Turkmenistan officials had held out the assurance to a HPC delegation that recently visited the neighbouring country.

Led by HPC Chairman Salahuddin Rabbani, the delegation met Turkmenistan President Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov, the parliament speaker and the country’s foreign minister.

The Turkmen leaders pledged efforts to improve cultural and economic relations between the two countries, the statement added. However, it did not say how Turkmenistan would help the peace process.
