TIRINKOT/SHARAN (Pajhwok): Four Afghan policemen and two insurgents have been killed in clashes in central Uruzgan and southeastern Paktia provinces, officials said on Friday.
The policemen were killed in Taliban attacks on their checkpoints in the Deh Rawud district of Uruzgan, the town’s administrative head, Aminullah Khaliqi, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
As usual, the Taliban claimed responsibility for the attacks on the police posts in Deh Rawud. The group’s spokesman, Qari Yousaf Ahmadi, said the fighters had killed five policemen and snatched their weapons.
Separately, two militants were shot dead in a clash with Afghan Local Police (ALP) personnel in the Janikhel district of Paktia. The provincial police chief said a third rebel had been caught alive.
Brig. Gen. Nabi Jan Mullahkhel added ALP members seized weapons and ammunition as a result of the encounter. Police suffered no casualties.
