2 attackers killed, policeman injured in clash

QALA-I-NAW (Pajhwok): Two militants were killed and a policeman wounded in an attack on a security post on the Badghis-Herat highway, an official said on Friday.

The predawn attack on the police checkpoint happened in the Laman area on the outskirts of Qala-i-Naw, the provincial capital, the police chief said.

Brig. Gen. Mohammad Qayyum Angar told Pajhwok Afghan News the ensuing clash lasted an hour and a half. The attackers fled as a result of police resistance, he said.

Bodies of the two militants killed in the firefight were still lying at the scene, the police chief added. One policeman was slightly wounded.
