Tribal elders from Paktia meet Karzai

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): President Hamid Karzai on Tuesday urged tribal elders from southeastern Paktia province for active participation in the April 5 presidential and provincial vote.

A statement from the Presidential Palace said Karzai issued the call at a meeting with the tribal elders from Paktia. The elders discuss their problems with the president.

They also called for speeding up the reconstructioninfo-icon campaign across the nation, improving educationinfo-icon and supply of electricity to the province.

According to the press release, the elders asked Karzai for a water dam and work on the Gardez-Zurmat ring road. The president assured the elders their problems would be discussed threadbare at the next Cabinet meeting.
