Tribal elders from Paktia meet Karzai

KABUL (Pajhwok): President Hamid Karzai on Tuesday urged tribal elders from southeastern Paktia province for active participation in the April 5 presidential and provincial vote.

A statement from the Presidential Palace said Karzai issued the call at a meeting with the tribal elders from Paktia. The elders discuss their problems with the president.

They also called for speeding up the reconstruction and supply of electricity to the province.

According to the press release, the elders asked Karzai for a water dam and work on the Gardez-Zurmat ring road. The president assured the elders their problems would be discussed threadbare at the next Cabinet meeting.
