KABUL (Pajhwok): The National Agenda Foundation (NAF) on Tuesday suggested creation of a body involving all presidential candidates to forge national unity and make the elections successful.
The NAF signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the presidential candidates, stressing national unity and ways of holding Saturday’s elections in a peaceful environment.
Addressing a news conference in Kabul, the NAF head, Ahmad Wali Massoud, said Afghanistan was passing through a critical phase of history and transparent elections would lead to stability and trust building.
He said a national agenda would help unite presidential candidates, which was essential for eliminating political differences.
“We ask presidential runners, influential individuals, religious scholars and political and civil society organizations to work for country’s stability and help the nation united,” he added.
Mohammad Younus Fakoor, member of the NAF, said the aim behind creation of a national agenda was to support a transparent election process and avoid any fraud in the democratic exercise.
