SHIBERGHAN/BAMYAN (Pajhwok): Officials of the Independent Election Commission (IEC) on Saturday torn apart posters of provincial council runners glued on the polling station building in central Bamyan province.

While posters of presidential runners in northern Jawzjan province were still pasted on polling station’s building, with the IEC official said was a stark violation of election law.

Posters of Gen. Abdul Rashid Dostum, Dr. Ashraf Ghani’s choice for first vice president were pasted on a wall in Ibn-i-Yameen High School in Shiberghan City.

Posters of provincial election runners Abul Hai Hayat, Mahrama Ayubi, Maulvi Mohammad Nazir and Dr. Mirwais were also glued on the walls in the same polling centres.

Pajhwok Afghan News reporter in Shiberghan said posters of Dr. Ashraf Ghazni Ahmadzai were glued at distance of ten metres to a polling station in Gauharshad Begum High School.

According to another report, a number of women taken with them the posters of sitting senator and provincial council election runner Jafari’s to a polling station where the IEC officials torn the posters.

Hakim Hussaini, an IEC official, had snatched the posters from voters inside the polling stations and called it violation of election rules.

Azra Mohammadi, an observer at the polling station, said: “Such kind of violations should be stopped forthwith.”
