KABUL/PUL-E-KHUMRI/BAMYAN (Pajhwok): Bombing blasts in the capital Kabul, central Bamyan, northern Parwan and Baghlan provinces occurred close to polling stations but caused no casualties, officials said Saturday.

A mine was placed in a trash which exploded on 7: 30am near Hazrat Zaid High School in Pul-e-Khumri City where voters were coming to cast their ballot.

A voter Malali Rasouli said the bomb went off “when I have my turn to vote. People ran pell-mell after the blast.”

Similarly, another explosion took place at around 6:45am close to the polling station in the Abdul Wakil Shaheed area on the outskirts of Qarabagh district of Kabul province. The blast caused no casualty.

Shafiullah, in charge of the polling station, told Pajhwok Afghan News the blat sent shock waves among voters but they were committed to vote.

In another incident, voting process was delayed for about an hour when explosion rocked the polling station’s area near Kahmard district of central Bamyan province.

District chief Abdul Hadi Sighan said the explosion created chaos among voters but the voting process restarted after brief suspension.

Brig. Gen. Khudayar Qudoosi, provincial police chief, said one suspect had been arrested in connection of the blast. No one was hurt in the incident.
