TIRINKOT (Pajhwok): The Independent Electoral Complaint Commission (IECC) on Saturday received 14 electoral complaints in central Uruzgan province, where one female candidate was detained on fraud allegations.

Abdul Hamid Sharifi, the IEC director, told Pajhwok Afghan News provincial council candidate Anisa had been detained in a polling station inside Malali High school with 49 voter cards. She was planning to poll fake votes, he added.

Brig. Gen. Matiullah Khan, the provincial police chief, said she was bailed out after briefly detention. He identified the candidate as Malalai.

IECC Commissioner Abdul Jabbar Sapi confirmed 49 cards had been recovered from the female runner.
