JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Flash floods emerged in some areas of eastern Laghman province following heavy rains on Sunday, blocking the Kabul-Jalalabad highway and causing financial losses to residents.
The floods washed away more than 10 acre of farmland, 12 homes and more than 50 animals in parts of the remote Badpakh district, the governor’s spokesman, Sarhadi Zwak, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
He said the Kabul-Jalalabad highway was blocked off in Tangi and Kakas areas and efforts were in place to clear the busy road for traffic.
